The Aging with Grace Ministry (AWG) serves adults 50+ by providing a diverse selection of group activities, lecture series, and community support. Current activities include but are not limited to:
Brown Bag Luncheons (monthly): Bring your lunch and listen to a speaker present an issue relevant to adults 50+. Previous topics have been "Fraud Against Seniors" by Tom Polhemus, "WWII Intelligence Agents" by Betty McIntosh & Doris Bohrer, and many, many more. Brown Bag Luncheons are held on the third Wednesday of the month from 12:45 to 2 p.m. in the Family Room. Beverages and dessert are provided.
Bunco: Adults from the Grace congregation and community gather to play Bunco. We meet on the fourth Tuesday of the month from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Family Room. Beverages and light refreshments are provided.
Caregiver Support Group (second Tuesday of the month): Within this support group you will find encouragement, an exchange of information, and listening ears. Caregiving can be an overwhelming and challenging experience. We welcome all caregivers, past, present, and long-distance. Friends, family, and coworkers are welcome to attend and we are discussing aging and our own self-care as well. We meet in Room 10 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Light refreshments are provided.
Homebound ministry: If you are a member or friend of Grace Church and unable to attend worship services on a regular basis, and would like to continue to stay connected; AWG can send you their weekly bulletin, HomeTouch, and The Upper Room a daily devotional guide (which can be mailed bimonthly). Communion can also be delivered to you by a pastor or an elder.
Field Trips: We take monthly field trips to places of interest. Previous trips have been to a Nats game, Skyline Drive, National Cathedral and Gunston Hall.
The AWG Spring Luncheon is an annual event with an average of fifty attendees. Similar to AWG's monthly Brown Bag Luncheon's, the Spring Luncheon provides a time and space for adults 50+ to gather for fellowship and entertainment!
